I WAS IN THIS AREA OF ARUNCHAL PRADESH A COUPLE YEARS AGO INVESTIGATING CRYPTOZOOLOGY AND REMOTE TRIBES. MOST OF THESE TRIBAL PEOPLE ARE BELIEVERS OF THE SUN AND EARTH. I WAS SEARCHING FOR THE LOST BRACE PLATES FROM TIBET -WHICH I FOUND AND PHOTOGRAPHED. I FOUND THE TRIBES FRIENDLY. THE ROADS ARE PRIMITIVE AND WASH OUT. THIS AREA REQUIRES SEVERAL EXPENSIVE PERMITS AND CHECKED FREQUENTLY BY ARMY AND POLICE. I AM NOT A LINGUIST SO I WAS NOT AWARE OF POSSIBLE DIALECT. MARC E W MILLER

I read this as a child in the 70's, a book full of short, but moral laden tales.
Just a few days ago I was trying to describe this very story to someone... while this is very similar ( allowing for changes in vernacular ), it isn't quite what I remember (especially this name 'Ooka'). It sounds like you have read the same or similar ... can you help me out w/ an author or title?
